Dear Congress:
We, the undersigned patients, physicians, and business owners ask that you:
1. Repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
2. Replace it with a series of patient-centered, fiscally responsible stepwise reforms that include:
◊ |
Use savings from Medicaid State Block Grants to pay for the devastating SGR cuts planned for Medicare. |
◊ |
Let individuals purchase insurance with pre-tax dollars. |
◊ |
Encourage Health Savings Accounts. |
◊ |
Let businesses purchase insurance across state lines. |
◊ |
Let small businesses create pools to spread risk. |
◊ |
Encourage states to end abusive medical litigation. |
◊ |
Use savings from these reforms to fund premium assistance programs. |
3. Pass each reform separately, one bill every few months.
4. Make each bill understandable and keep it to a reasonable length.
5. Keep each bill clean, letting it pass or fail on its merits. No pork. No payoffs.
6. Make the final language public for 7 days prior to voting.
